A A salt-like Brotherly Love
One day two young men asked their sister whom they loved very much, "How much is your love to us?" She answered, "I love you as I love salt." They felt hurt at what they
thought a low estimate and were unhappy at this reply. So on the next feastday she cooked for them all their favourite dishes, but she did not put the salt in all of them save one. They looked at these dishes placed on the table, expecting to enjoy themeslves greatly, and at the same time they felt grateful for this exhibition of their sister's care, but as soon as they began to eat, all was dull and flavourless. They tasted here and there, and enjoyed nothing till they came across the one dish, which, though simple , was well flavoured and they ate it all up, and left the rest.
"Now" said the sister, " Do you realise how much I love you? My love like the salt enters into everything, and without it nothing has any flavour. Now you know how much I love you, and what is the worth of salt in food."
