'Continuous' keeps happening all the time.
When you are flying in an aeroplane, the noise of the engines is (you hope) continuous
Continual means that it keeps happening (rather like the crying of the baby in the seat behind you in the plane, which starts up again just as you are starting to doze off).

continual is something happening again and again
continuous is something happening or existing with out stopping
