نعلم جميعاً أهمية استيعاب مايكتب من جمل من نواحي كثيرة أهمها لغوياً الناحية النحوية والدلالية فلو نظرنا في علم النحو syntax فنجد أن العلاقة النحوية grammatical relation تتمثل في مانعرفه جميعاً مثلاً الفاعل subject و المفعول به object وغيرها مثلاً:

Ahmad drank the milk
Ahmad - subject
drank - verb
the milk - object

أما بالنسبة لعلم الدلالة أو المعاني فالوضع يختلف فعلم المعاني يسمي الفاعل والمفعول به وغيرها من الكلمات الواردة في الجمل الإنجليزية أسماء معينة تندرج تحت ما يقال لها الأدوار الدلالية أو الموضوعية thematic/semantic roles وهذه الأدوار تسعة -في معظم كتب أهل اللغة- هي:

recipient
goal
source
experiencer
instrument
location

أثناء البحث قرأت مايلي فهل كل مفعول به يعتبر هدف أو على حسب الجملة فقط
فمثلا الفصل مكان فهل قد يعتبر هدف للمدرس
